Visual
Poetry presented the work of Tuscan artist and writer Quinto Martini
(1908-1990). Over a period of more than twenty years, from the mid-1950s
onwards, Martini’s fascination with Dante’s masterpiece led him to create
visual interpretations for each canto of the poem’s three books. Visual
Poetry selected sculptures, paintings and lithographs from this
collection and presented them (some for the first time) in conjunction
with their preparatory drawings, focusing on Martini’s process of translation
from Dante’s words.
