The SUF Art Gallery was created in 2006 as part of a large-scale renovation of the Syracuse University in Florence campus. Housed in the Galleria building at Via dei della Robbia 99, the SUF Art Gallery provides a new space for intercultural exchange at the University.
Since the Gallery’s opening it has hosted seven exhibits, presenting the art of twenty-seven artists from five countries to the SUF and Florence communities. These exhibits have been created in collaboration with the SUArt Galleries in Syracuse, NY and other partner institutions, as well as with Faculty, Staff and Students at SUF.
In Fall, 2007 the SUF Art Gallery inaugurated a new exhibit and lecture series dedicated to contemporary art and artists. Created in collaboration with the Studio Arts Department at SUF, Contemporary Visions: Encounters with Art spotlights the work of practicing artists through exhibits and lectures aimed at raising issues faced by artists in the twenty-first century.
