Beginning Painting (PTG 281/282)
This course is designed for students wishing to concentrate on a traditional technical foundation in oil painting. Students will be taken systematically through the fundamental principles and elements of painting including chiaroscuro and tonal work, color mixing, composition, brushwork, and texture. Instruction will be supplemented with slides of old master, modern and contemporary works. There will be practical demonstrations of all technical information, including canvas stretching, gesso grounds, painting mediums, and the use of brushes.
