Prescription Medication

Most prescription medications you may need during the semester are available in Italy, however may be manufactured by a different pharmaceutical company, and/or have a different name. Ideally, you should bring enough of your prescription medication from home to last through the semester, accompanied by a doctor’s prescription and breakdown of the generic composition of the drug. If you need to have a prescription re-filled, our doctor at the school can prescribe the Italian equivalent of the medication for you.
Please do not have medications sent by mail from home. They most likely will not get through customs, and you will have to pay a fine.

Important: Medications to treat ADD/ADHD (ex. Ritalin) cannot be filled in Italy. Either bring enough for the duration of your stay, or have someone bring the medication with them mid-semester, accompanied by a doctor’s letter of authorization. Do not have this medication sent though the mail.

Note: Our doctor can give regular allergy shots, as well as any other periodic injections (such as birth control). His office has a refrigerator where you may store these serums.
