Your contribution will support some of the following initiatives:
Storytelling gives
SUF students the opportunity to experience something unique—to fully
engage with the Italian culture through interaction with children in area
schools, by reading American children’s books to Italian elementary
school children during their English classes.
Seeds
of Legality gives students the opportunity to volunteer their
time and labor working on Sicilian farmland that has been confiscated
from the Mafia in recent years. It is a chance for students to experience
the challenges of contemporary Italy while making an important civic
and social statement in favor of freedom and legality.
Soup
Kitchen is a new volunteer project in which students can experience
a reality different from the stereotypical view of Italian society. Volunteers
help serve meals to the homeless and people in need, bus tables, and
clean the dining rooms, while helping to provide a welcoming and supportive
setting.
The
Villa Rossa Series: Intercultural Perspectives on Italy and Europe Began
in fall 2006, this book series has already seen the publication of three
books, with the fourth and fifth volumes underway. The series highlights
the artistic achievements and intellectual discoveries of the SUF faculty
and professional staff, whose work explores the experience and historical
dimensions of cultural interchange.
Community
Lecture Series A series of lectures by renown experts in various
fields, open to the public.
