SUF Faculty Conference Fund

Each year SU Florence encourages its faculty to stay on the cutting edge of research and professional advancement by supporting participation in conferences, lectures, artistic exhibits and workshops in the capacity of speakers, discussants, organizers, exhibiting artists, etc., through the SUF Faculty Conference Fund.

The amount of funding available is limited, therefore the complete coverage of costs for any given conference cannot be guaranteed.

Available funds are allocated according to:

• importance and location of the conference
• nature of participation
• seniority, engagement within the SUF community, and acadamic standing of the
  faculty member
• balanced representation of academic departments
  

Interested faculty must use the standard SUF Faculty Conference Fund Request form to submit requests to Sylvia Hetzel (assistant for academic services) by October 31 of each academic year. Funding can be requested retroactively for conferences that have taken place within the same calendar year.

Requests will be evaluated by a committee consisting of the department coordinators and the director; a decision regarding the allocation of funds will be made by the following Nov. 15.

Please note that applications will be accepted from SUF faculty only; said funding is not available for visiting SU faculty.

If there is the possibility of having said funds matched, applicants should indicate what type of matching funding they may receive.
