Biography
Professor of History of Architecture at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice (IUAV), 1971-1996. Also at IUAV Chairman of the School of Architecture (1980-1983), Member of the Presidential Board (1992-1995) and Director of the Ph.D. Program (1994-1996). Since 1996 has been professor of History of Architecture at the School of Architecture, Universita' di Roma Tre. Director of the European Master's Degree in History of Architecture (universities of Roma 3, Paris 8, Aix-Marseille I e Politecnico Madrid).
Visiting Professor at M.I.T. (1976, 1984), Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York (1978, 1979), Harvard University GSD (1985, 1986, 1988, 1989), and the Polytechnic of Zurich (1993-94). Author of numerous books and essays on Rome and the history of 20th century architecture.
Writer and editor for Italian and foreign magazines as well as scientific editor of exhibition catalogs. Currently, Accademico Segretario Generale of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca and member of various Scientific Committees.
Teaches Italian Renaissance and modern architectural history for the M.Arch II post-professional degree program and Survey of Italian Architecture, 1909-1959 at Syracuse University in Florence School of Architecture.
