Courses in Set Design and Costume Design, Fall 2005 and Spring 2006

The production of Snow White presented SUF with the possibility of offering two new courses for the fall 2005/spring 2006 semesters: Set and Lighting Design, and Costume Design were taught by working professionals.

In the Set and Lighting Design class, taught by SU Professor Alex Koziara, students helped to create masks and other props used in the opera performance.

Designer Regina Schrecker worked closely with SUF Prof. Kathy Knipple, staff member Maibritt Handberg, and SUF students in the costume design class as they took the production of costumes for the wicked witch, the hunter, and the dwarves from the initial phases of Schrecker’s sketches on paper, to fabric selection, and on to the actual cutting and sewing of the patterns and fabric.
