Storytelling & Operation “Do you speak English”

The Storytelling Program offered by SUF students to the local schools took an important development as the program, formerly offered through SUF’s Internship Program, became 100% volunteer-based. Through the didactic project “Operazione Do You Speak English?” over thirty SU Florence student volunteers taught an English-language version of Snow White in local elementary classrooms. The Story Telling was so popular that even after matinee performances at the TMMF sold out, Florentine teachers continued to request the Snow White lessons for their students. In all, more than 3,000 area children participated.

Professor Vittoria Tettamanti-Harley pointed out, “Operazione Do You Speak English?” brought out “the best” in Syracuse students: “As a teacher, I saw the best side of our students during this experience—their enthusiasm and generosity, their availability to others.”
