Signature Seminar: The Greek Odyssey

Begin your semester abroad by navigating the Mediterranean across space and time to chart the artistic, cultural, and political origins of western culture. From morning until night, your classroom will be whatever port, piazza, or ancient temple the day’s journey leads you to.

SUF’s Signature Seminar The Greek Odyssey: The Origins of Western Myth, Architecture, and Politics is a 10-day prequel to your semester abroad in Florence led by a SU Florence faculty member and local experts. Not only will you have the opportunity to earn 2 credits but you will experience what it means to investigate on-site the origins of the western civilization in Mycenean and classical Greece and its reception in Republican and Imperial Rome. Your pre-semester journey will end with the rebirth of classical culture in Florence.
